World Archery and Longines have announced an extension to the official timing and scoring partnership in place for Hyundai Archery World Cup and World Archery Championship events since 2008.

Longines provides the in-venue and on-screen timing clock at the World Archery tournaments.

The winged hourglass brand also provides timepieces for the winners of the Hyundai Archery World Cup stages, the final and world championship events, and presents its very own Longines Prize for Precision.

Introduced in 2010, the Longines Prize for Precision recognises the most accurate archers – alternating between compound and recurve athletes – over the season, ranked by number of 10s shot in competition. Stage awards were added in 2014, with one category recognised at each leg of the international tour.

The season-long Longines Prize for Precision will be awarded to recurve archers in 2018. The USA’s Brady Ellison has won the recurve men’s prize all four of the previous times it has been available (2010, 2012, 2014, 2016).

World Archery President Prof Dr Ugur Erdener said: “Longines and World Archery share the pursuit of perfection, the former in timekeeping and the latter in precision sports. We are happy to continue this valuable partnership for timing at our tournaments and look forward to awarding elegant Longines timepieces to more of our world-class athletes.”

Longines Vice President and Head of Marketing Juan-Carlos Capelli said: “Longines is pleased to announce the renewal of its partnership with World Archery as the Official Partner and Timekeeper of each Hyundai Archery World Cup stage and World Archery Championships.”

“The Swiss watch brand is also proud to present the Longines Prize for Precision during these events, which rewards the female and male athletes who have scored the most 10s throughout the whole season.”

“This sport embodies the values upheld by the brand since its inception, namely tradition, elegance and performance.”
